K-Bank Implements 'FakeFinder'... Internet Banks Go All-Out to Prevent Phishing
2024.05.03
AI security company Everspin announced on the 3rd that its malicious app phishing prevention solution 'FakeFinder' has been implemented by K-Bank. With K-Bank's implementation, two out of the three major internet banks in Korea (Kakao Bank and K-Bank) are now Everspin customers. K-Bank expects to significantly improve financial safety and reduce the possibility of customers suffering from malicious app phishing crimes through FakeFinder. K-Bank is expected to maximize its utility as it conducted a detailed review of effectiveness over several months prior to this implementation. FakeFinder, the domestic market share leader in malicious app phishing prevention, is used by 46 financial institutions in Korea, including KB Kookmin Bank, Kakao Bank, NH Nonghyup Bank, Samsung Card, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Korea Investment & Securities, Shinhan Investment & Securities, and SBI Savings Bank. It also has 14 major financial institutions as clients in Japan and Indonesia. With over 43 million Monthly Active Users (MAU) in Korea, FakeFinder protects the vast majority of the financial population and provides the most reliable malicious app detection performance. FakeFinder collects information on all apps in existence into a white-list DB and cross-checks this with apps installed on a user's device to detect malicious apps. Unlike the widely used blacklist method, which only collects information on malicious apps that have already caused damage, FakeFinder's approach is technically differentiated and enables more effective detection. 'iDEFENDER,' an identity theft prevention service using FakeFinder's big data, is also drawing attention from the financial industry. Created jointly by Everspin and NICE Information Service to solve the rapidly increasing crime of identity theft, iDEFENDER is currently used by more than 10 financial institutions and is spreading rapidly.
