EVERSPIN MTD
Moving Target Defense The Future of Modern Security
AI-MTD (Moving Target Defense) is Everspin's core technology that implements dynamic target defense.
It also refers to the ultimate goal of modern security: reducing and shifting the attack surface to eliminate the very purpose and justification of cyberattacks. EverSpin's MTD is an AI-powered security model equipped with self-evolving security modules, rendering cyberattacks meaningless and ineffective.
EverSafe's proprietary Dynamic Security technology fully embodies the essence of MTD, making it the only anti-hacking technology of its kind in Korea.
A New Security Model, MTD(Moving Target Defense)
MTD (Moving Target Defense) is a next-generation security concept introduced by the U.S. government in 2009. Translated as "Dynamic Target Defense," MTD focuses on making vulnerabilities harder to locate rather than merely reinforcing their protection against cyberattacks. While MTD was declared a key theme for the future of cybersecurity at the time, its adoption was slow due to the static-focused paradigm of traditional security models.
How does MTD differ from traditional security models?
Limitations of the Traditional Security Model: Static(Static)
The traditional Static approach, which contrasts with MTD, involves building defense mechanisms such as encryption and obfuscation to protect exposed vulnerabilities from external attacks. This can be likened to installing a thick iron door secured with numerous locks and complex passwords. While it may appear impenetrable, from an attacker’s perspective, it is merely a door that can eventually be opened with enough time and effort.
VS
MTD Breaking Free from the Static Paradigm
MTD emerged as a concept aimed at breaking away from the static paradigm. Rather than adding security devices to a door, as in traditional methods, it focuses on continuously shifting the door’s location to prevent the exposure of attack points altogether. MTD is recognized as a security model befitting the fast-evolving era, and the global security industry continues to research ways to implement MTD effectively.
An implementation rate of less than 5%...
MTD remains powerful and effective
In 2023, the IT research firm Gartner identified MTD as the most noteworthy paradigm in the cybersecurity market. Gartner highlighted the high potential for MTD's growth, projecting that its implementation rate, which stood at 5% at the time, would rise to 30% by 2025. However, the current implementation rate has not seen significant growth.
Dynamic Technology to MTD,
The first MTD implementation and commercialization through AI
The foundation of Everspin's MTD, the dynamic technology, was born in 2014 with the development of Eversafe. The AI applied to Everspin's dynamic technology autonomously modifies security modules, neutralizing hackers' attempts to breach the system. Since the number of security module variations created by AI approaches infinity, hackers face endless failures without ever achieving success.
